It's not what you've got, it's what you do with it!

I like to think I am the ‘glass is half full’ kind of girl. Along with that train of thought, it’s what you do with that half glass of milk that can make all the difference in the world, especially in the case of Puttanesca.

First, let me simplify Puttanesca for those of you who aren’t foodies like me. It’s spaghetti with canned tomatoes. Add in some spice, olives, capers, and whatever your heart desires (mushrooms for me). Ask your guests to bring the salad, and bon appetite you have a dinner party.

Not much of a recipe critique, I know. But if we go back to Amber’s original posting and remember the history and story behind the recipe. Then add in some friends and family that are excited to try something new. Reference the picture I posted of our table setting: my husband used an old bridesmaid shawl for the table runner, cut up paper towels into heart shapes, and printed the recipe on red paper. Then you can start to see how such a simple concept of picking one recipe a month to try out can turn into something so beautiful and exciting.

We took Puttanesca to the next level. Both in the excitement we created and in the red pepper we added… My only word of caution is if you have guests, a half of teaspoon will do, and they can add more spice after the food is served.

In the end, the puttanesca was exhilarating and the evening with friends was great. And such is my 'glass is half full' review. Oh, and what we did with that half glass of milk was drink it, because our Puttanesca was spicy!
