Thirsty Thursday: Tequila Popper

Okay!  Guess what BATF fans?  It is Cinco De Mayo this weekend and in honor of the holiday, it's necessary to celebrate with a Tequila drink.  I think most of us are a bit, um, let's say cautious when it comes tequila, but if you like to throw caution to the wind, we have quite a repertoire of delicious Tequila drinks such as: Avocado Margaritas, Fire in the BellyStrawberry Jalapeño Margaritas, our ever-famous Jack's Trailer Park Margaritas, and Spice Market Ginger Margaritas.  Damn!  I just realized we have a certain beauty who is really dedicated to her Tequila! I will give you a guess, her name starts with an E and ends with a Y. This should really be a post dedicated to our little margarita maker, Emily.

Cinco de Mayo is on a Saturday this year. Since it's not a "school night" there is no excuse not to try one of these delicious sounding drinks. And if you want something to eat with your tequila cocktail, coming up tomorrow will be a post for one of my favorite recipes and it's perfect for Cinco ... stay tuned!

And because these posts should be educational, here's your Beauty history lesson for the day with a quick refresher on why we celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
"The day is observed in the United States as a day of Mexican heritage and pride and to commemorate the cause of freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War. Contrary to popular belief, Cinco de Mayo is NOT Mexico's independence day- the most important national patriotic holiday in Mexico  - which is actually celebrated September 16."
So what I take away from that, is we should also celebrate on September 16 every year! Now that you know why we're celebrating this weekend, let's move on to my lazy Saturday plans since I'm a lazy beauty, am planning to go to the beach all day and want a lazy tequila drink to pack in my Nalgene bottle.  I just wish I had some lazy beauties to join me.

Tequila Popper

Ingredients:
Tequila (preferably a nicer kind in proportion to your age and likelihood of a hangover)
Squirt
Ice

Add all ingredients to your Nalgene bottle and go. Or if you're serving it at home, pour into a margarita glass and take credit for a fancy cocktail.

And if you want inspiration to get into some trouble this weekend, just look to Ivadell (my mom):

She didn't get arrested- just in case you were worried

  2. I can't believe I actually knew that about Sept 16, only because we were in Mexico the week before as they were setting everything up for a big celebration. I agree, let's celebrate then too! Looking forward to my tequila popper tomorrow!

  3. This makes me laugh out loud. I don't think I realized how many tequilla/margarita drinks we had on here! And that most of them were Emily's! That pic of Ivadell is hilarious.

  4. Mmmm, tequila! I guess for my next Thirsty Thursday post, I better come up with a cocktail that doesn’t include tequila in its ingredient list (will that even taste good?) so I don’t get a bad reputation! Have I told you lately how much I love Ivadelle!? And this lazy beauty would love, more than anything, to join you on the beach!

  5. You're hilarious! I especially like the "Tequila (preferably a nicer kind in proportion to your age and likelihood of a hangover)" tidbit. So true.
