Thirsty Thursday: Blood Orange Margarita

Yesterday was National Margarita Day. Somehow I missed it, but lucky for me everyone else was all over it. Here's an article dedicated just to the day (doesn't the saffron-citrus salt rimmer sound divine?) and Nutmeg Nanny posted a recipe for Blood Orange Margaritas that look fab-u-lous.

Margaritas make me really happy, so I'm having a make-up margarita day. And next year, the big day will be on my calendar and I will not let it pass me by!

But in the mean time, here's a recipe taken directly from the awesome Nutmeg Nanny. You'll have to visit her site to see her beautiful photos.

Blood Orange Margarita

1 1/2 ounces gold tequila
1 ounce Cointreau
1 ounce fresh lime juice
2 ounces blood orange juice
Salt for the rim
Blood orange and lime slices for garnish

Rim your glass in some of the fresh squeezed blood orange juice and dip in salt.

Fill glass with ice.

In a pitcher or cocktail shaker, combine tequila, Cointreau, lime juice and blood orange juice. Shake until combined. Pour over ice and add in blood orange and lime slices.
